ALL THE DETAILS!

12/20/2013

Here's all the latest details! Consider this and the Facebook event page to be your definite sources of info.

Hey Santa! Guess what time of year it is, Santa! The red menace descends on Seattle this Saturday December 21st! Well over one thousand of us will be parading through Pioneer Square, Downtown, and Cap Hill! This event is free - Santa doesn't pay a cover!

Santarchy is an annual mass gathering of people dressed in Santa Claus costumes parading publicly on streets and in bars in cities around the world. The focus is on spontaneity and creativity, while having a good time and spreading cheer and goodwill.

Want to help during the big day? It's not too late:
- Print copies of the map and carol book.
- Know the time and be familiar with the route to help wrangle Santas to the next stop.
- Got some talent? Show it off today.
- If Santas are acting inappropriately, find a way to peacefully fix the situation.

2. Santa does not fuck with police
3. Santa does not fuck with bar staff
4. Santa does not fuck with Santa

THE RULES
---------------------------------------------------
1. My name is Santa. Your name is Santa. We are Santa. Who's in charge here? Santa!
2. Santa will bring cash and tip. No cards! No complex orders! Lines will be long, so keep it quick and simple.
3. Wear a Santa suit! Or be an elf! Or reindeer! Get in the holiday spirit. Wearing just a Santa hat with regular clothes is meh.
4. Wear good walking shoes. Santa is covering lots of ground.
5. This is a participatory event. Do not expect us to entertain you, though we will. Bring something Santa will enjoy: candy, toys, games, stickers, buttons, signs, or a kickass costume.
6. Expect lines. Santa will deal with it, find another spot nearby, or bring an alternate means of drinking... keeping in mind the establishments won't approve.
7. Pace yourself. Know your limits. Remember to eat! And Santa doesn't drink and drive! Take a bus, cab, Uber, or Lyft.
8. Share your photos and thoughts on the Facebook wall! https://www.facebook.com/events/1413448102205619/ or use hashtag #SeattleSanta

Santa has finished assembling the 2013 Seattle Santarchy Carol Book and its FANTASTIC.

The files are designed to be printed on two sides of one sheet of paper and then sliced in half with a paper cutter.  If you do not have a duplex printer (a printer that can print on both sides at once), then print the first page, flip the stack over, load it back into your printer's paper tray and then print the second page. You may need to experiment with a page or two to make sure you're re-feeding the paper in the right direction.

After printing, cut on the dotted line. Then fold and nest the two pieces of paper into a booklet and put a staple in the middle of the fold.  Voila! You have a neat and tidy Santarchy Carol book.

We're almost there! We'll be announcing the full route and map in the next 36 hours! Here's some things to keep in mind.

  • The Facebook event page is where you can stay in touch with Santa and sharing your photos and stories.
  • The Twitter hashtag is #SeattleSanta, though we expect most people to use Facebook.
  • We all have slacker Santa friends. Remind them about Santarchy to ensure they're ready.
  • Bring cash! We cannot stress this enough. Cards slow everything down.
  • Follow the route. Or don't. There is a lot of fun to be had off the main path. But we also have a lot of activities planned that you'll miss if you leave the main crowd.
  • Asshole Santas are not allowed! Respect the bars, the public, fellow Santas, and the city. Some bars and cities do not like Santarchy. All it takes is one bad Santa for us to get a reputation. So please do what you can to protect the future of Seattle Santarchy!
  • Consider making a donation to a charity you support this holiday season.
